Effective 2 August 2026
Vidira is a reading app. Your library, reading position, notes, and highlights stay on your device. This policy explains the limited data we handle when you sign in, subscribe, or use the AI “Dig deeper” features.
“Vidira”, “we”, “us” refers to the developer of the Vidira app. You can reach us at support@vidira.app.
If you choose to sign in (required only for Vidira Plus), we receive your name, email address, and a user identifier from Apple or Google via Firebase Authentication. We use this to create and secure your account and to link your subscription to it. You can read and use free features without an account.
When you use “Dig deeper”, Ask, Quiz, or Summarize, the text you select or the image you choose - along with limited surrounding book context needed to answer - is sent to our servers and on to our AI provider to generate a response. We do not upload your book files, your full library, your reading position, or your notes and highlights; those remain on your device.
Purchases are handled by Apple. We and our billing provider (RevenueCat) receive your subscription status and a transaction identifier so we can unlock Vidira Plus. We never receive or store your card or payment details.
To keep the service reliable and fair, our servers process a device or account identifier and counts of AI requests (for rate limits and daily quotas), plus standard server logs such as IP address and timestamps for security and troubleshooting.
If you connect your own AI provider (“bring your own key”), that key is stored on your device in the operating system’s secure storage and is sent to our server only to route your requests to that provider. We do not store it on our servers.
We use a small set of trusted providers, each acting only to deliver the service:
These providers handle data under their own privacy policies and our agreements with them. We do not use your reading content or AI requests to train our own models.
Our backend runs in Google Cloud (United States region). If you use Vidira from outside the United States, your data may be processed there and in the regions our providers operate.
Account and subscription‑status records are kept while your account is active and are deleted when you delete your account. Quota counters reset on a rolling schedule. We do not retain the content of your AI requests after a response is generated; our AI providers may retain data briefly under their own policies.
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights to access, port, or object to processing. Contact us to exercise them.
Vidira is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date above and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
